Challenge
The Town of Queen Creek sought an independent community survey firm to gather resident feedback on quality of life, town services, and growth priorities. With one of the fastest-growing populations in Arizona, the Town needed reliable, representative data to guide strategic planning and resource allocation, and to compare results to prior surveys.
Objective
Support the Town of Queen Creek’s regular resident survey program by capturing opinions on quality of life, service delivery, civic participation, and unique local issues. Provide comparable results that help staff, elected officials, and partners identify challenges, plan improvements, and evaluate progress. Confirm and quantify that residents remain happy with overall quality of life, highly satisfied with public safety services, and view Queen Creek as an excellent place to raise children.
Solution
Summit Survey Research implemented a random sample survey design centered on a web survey with a phone option for accessibility. The Town mailed 8,500 invitation letters in English and Spanish on October 24, 2025. Residents entered a unique code online, and could text to receive a link, scan a QR code, or call to complete by phone. In total, 699 surveys were completed, producing an 8.2% response rate. Data were weighted by age to reflect the Town’s demographics, yielding a margin of error of ±3.7 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. Results were presented to Town leadership to inform 2026-2027 planning.
Key Findings
- Nearly nine in ten residents rate overall quality of life, their neighborhood as a place to live, and Queen Creek as a place to raise children as Excellent or Good. About three in four say the Town is an Excellent or Good place to recreate (76%) and retire (74%). Fifty-three percent say it is an Excellent or Good place to work.
- Safety, the availability of parks, paths, and trails, and overall appearance score highest among Town characteristics. Traffic flow on major streets remains a continued challenge with 13% describing traffic as Excellent or Good.
- Most rate shopping (76%) and recreational opportunities (75%) as Excellent or Good. Educational opportunities are at 66% and employment opportunities at 36%. Residents engage heavily with Town parks (86%) and the library (59%). The website (90%) and social media (68%) are top information sources.
- Fire & Medical (94%) and Police (87%) receive strong Excellent or Good ratings. Feelings of safety are very high, including 98% who feel safe in their neighborhood during the day and 93% after dark. Crime victimization is at its lowest level since 2019.
- Open-ended responses emphasize traffic and roads, the pace and pattern of growth, and preserving small-town and rural character.
- Residents support tax increases for road improvements (81%), followed by public safety (76%), new or improved trails (65%), and parks (64%). Views are evenly split on general government services.
Impact
Survey findings provide a statistically sound foundation for decisions on roadway investments, growth management, public safety, and community amenities. The survey elevates resident voices, expands participation, and supports the longitudinal data analysis that helps track progress over time. The result is a clear, resident-driven roadmap that maintains Queen Creek’s family-friendly character while addressing the challenges of rapid growth.
